Taking Care Of Sacramento Contact Lenses

By Nancy Gardner

Contact lenses have to be prescribed by a qualified optician even if the wearer does not have problems with his or her vision. This comes after thorough eye examination to assess for hyperopia, myopia, astigmatism and the general health of your eyes. The visual strength is tested before Sacramento contact lenses are prescribed.

When wearing them, hand washing comes first. The hands have to be dried after washing. Using the dominant hand the lens is held at the tip using the pointer finger and then the middle finger is used to pull down the lower eyelid.

The pointer finger is also used to elevate the lid at the top besides holding lenses. You should look up at this point and place the lens in a gentle manner on the lower side of the sclera. The pointer finger is then removed and the lid released. After doing this, the eye should be closed for a moment to give a chance for the lens to be centered.

The process of taking them off starts with washing the hands too. They should be thoroughly dried thereafter. You should then look up and pull down the lower lid using the middle finger of the dominant hand. The index finger is then used to access the lenses on the lower part. It is then slid down the sclera and squeezed between the thumb and pointer finger. Be careful during the removal process.

The disposable kind of contact lens is meant to be worn only one time. They eliminate the hassle of repeated cleaning and storing. However, caring for lens is not so difficult. Just make sure you adhere to the instructions of your optician. There are commercially made solutions meant to remove proteins, clean, rinse and disinfect the lenses before they are stored.

There are some steps to be followed in maintenance of healthy ad relaxed use of these lens. The initial step in this procedure is rubbing the lens for around 20 seconds after application of a cleanser on its sides. The rinsing process must be thorough taking up to 5 seconds using a special rinsing solution.

In storage, they are soaked for at least four hours in the cleanser solution. The solution is never to be reused. It should be discarded immediately after use. After doing all this, you can go ahead and put on lens again. If you notice any remaining debris, just rinse them before inserting them into the eyes.

They should be put into a closed case meant for storing lenses if they are not in use. Saline solution should not be used for soaking them. Only the commercially made solutions designed for this purpose are to be used. The saline is not effective in disinfection process. They can remain in the case for up to thirty days if not in use. After this duration, they should be taken out for cleaning and disinfection even if they will not be used immediately. Another important thing you should observe is monthly replacement of the lens case.
