Will the Short-Burst Diet help you lose weight and keep it off for good? Is the Short Burst Diet all it's hyped up to be? Well, it just depends on where you are, and where you want to be
After getting these questions about the Short-Burst Diet I decided to make a quick review about it for you
Essentially the short burst diet principles are to eat as normal everyday out of the month, except for a 5 day stretch you cut back to 1,000 calories of pretty much pure plant based foods.
There are a lot of theories behind why this works, and apparently there is a lot of research on this diet that says it can work great.
In the past I have tried a 3 day stretch of a diet very similar to this, except
I did not restrict myself to 1,000 calories per day. The reason I did it was as a form of cleanse, and a way to reset my bodies hormones.

For me personally, I stay lean and keep my body fat low through clean eating and regular exercise. Currently I consume about 3100 calories per day and I exercise 4 days per week. You can get my full nutrition and exercise plan here on my youtube channel, so be sure to subscribe.
The big question is, will the Short-Burst Diet work for you... Well, if you cut your diet down to 1,000 calories per day for 5 days straight, I can just about guarantee you'll be burning more calories than you are consuming. In theory, this will induce weight loss. Your body will need to change gears and start drawing energy that is already stored in your body... we're talking about burning fat now.
But is consuming 1000 calories per day on the Short-Burst Diet safe? That's up for debate. To me, this almost sounds like a diet of starvation. Rather than dip my calories that low personally, I would just stick to eating clean foods and veggies, staying away from processed foods. 1,000 calories is a very "vague and general" advice bit. Each person will have their own calorie requirements. If I only ate 1,000 calories per day for 5 days, I would be darn near starved be day 5. If you have plenty of fat on your body to burn, you'll probably live, and burn some fat too.
Just be careful not to binge eat after the Short-Burst Diet 5 day period is over. This diet offers you the freedom to go back to your "normal eating" after the 5 days. If your normal eating is really bad, 5 days of starvation might not be enough to help you achieve your weight loss and health goals.
Personally, I would only use the Short-Burst Diet as a stepping stone as a way to clean up my act and get my health back on track. I would not cut my diet to 1,000 calories per day for 5 days either, but I would focus on eating fresh vegetables and avoiding processed foods, sugars, and alcohol. I find that the principles of the Short-Burst Diet can be very beneficial, but I would not leave my weight-loss and health goals to be focused on 5 days out of every 30. If anything I would probably focus on eating right 25 days, then have a down week where I stopped tracking my macros, and allowed for some junk food, beer, and the like
