The Important Facts About Ocean Conservation

By Donna Bennett

Each day, there are numerous outbreaks of illnesses among regions near water bodies. Research has proven that most of these illnesses are a result of improper waste disposal. The waste products are carried near water bodies by strong wind and rain contaminating water. The contaminants get consumed upon drinking water directly from the ocean without prior treatment and through food chains. It is, however, essential to upload ocean conservation methods in our daily practices.

It is our daily practices that expose us to the dangers of accidents and illnesses. Chemicals deposited in the sea not only cause the death of fish, whales and sea turtles but also trigger the growth of plants. The plants use the oxygen in water making the remaining animals succumb to death. Investors relying on the animals for income generation suffer the most.

Conserving the ocean keep it clean and safe. Once trash is deposited into the water body, the waves carry the garbage to other areas destroying the smooth outline of the water body. Traveling across the water body becomes difficult as the garbage gets stuck along the boat surface and water hyacinth entangles the ships. Ferries and boats are at high risk of capsizing as they force their way out of the garbage and plants.

This bold step offers a variety of health benefits. Young children whose immune system is not yet fully developed and the aged whose system is weak are most vulnerable to infections. Keeping the sea clean protects them from diarrhea which is their number one killer. Depositing the contaminants in safe areas prevents against abdominal pains, mouth ulcers, skin coloration, and cancer.

Water conservation is economical and helps people adopt other cost generating investments. Billions of shillings are invested in decontaminating water for industrial and domestic use. This would otherwise be invested in establishing more hotels that will accommodate more tourists and pump water to the dry areas.

It benefits the nation financially. Smooth water bodies allow easy and fast transportation and travelers are able to access the country. The finances help the government in completion of their ongoing development projects. Agricultural workers collect enough aquatic animals for exportation. Pharmaceutical manufacturers use the clean water in their facility for production and because the treatment process of clean water is short, they are able to export their products and expand the market globally.

There are various organizational rules and regulations that assist in marine conservation. Organizations in a particular nation should take the responsibility of educating the public on proper waste disposal methods. They should look for ways of motivating the industrial workers to conserve the marine by recognizing those responding positively to keep the environment safe.

Rules and regulations on water body conservation should be strictly implemented. Giving a heavy punishment on the wrongdoers after frequent teachings make people behave and act accordingly. A country should devise new methods of reusing and recycling water and other wastes from industries. Swimming, skiing and boat riding are enjoyable on a smoothly curved sea.
