Your go-to guide for cleaning house
⚡ Family size, lifestyle, having pets, and plenty of other factors will affect your cleaning schedule. Here's a quick list of how often to clean certain things around the house:
  • Whenever you get home: Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds.
  • Daily: Disinfect doorknobs, light switches, faucets, frequently used electronics, kitchen counters, and dining room tables. Sweep floors and do dishes.
  • Weekly: Wipe down sinks, bathroom mirrors, and waste bins.
  • Biweekly: Clean toilets, wipe down microwave, mop floors, and vacuum rugs and carpets.
  • Monthly: Scrub showers and tubs.
To me, that daily list looks extremely unrealistic. It's not the end of the world if we don't follow it, but there's a good reason behind this schedule. Those high traffic areas are breeding grounds for potentially harmful germs or viruses to spread, which can increase your chances of getting sick. Take the dishes, for example: The longer you leave plates and glasses filled with water in the sink, the more likely (and quickly!) bacteria or mold can grow.
Keep that routine in mind as more of a general goal. If you need help, consider exploring other support options! Cleaning companies, robot vacuums, and other low maintenance options exist for a reason.
