Tuscan Olive Oil & Assessing Its Validity In 3 Steps

By Jennifer Marie Anderson

Those who purchase Tuscan olive oil, on a regular basis, will be able to fully understand just how high-quality of a product this is. There's so much to be seen, as far as this oil is concerned, from a health standpoint and one that's related to taste. With these points in mind, though, it's important to understand whether or not your product is as valid as can be. Legitimacy must be looked into and this list of 3 steps should help the most inquisitive of oil buyers.

To start off, it's important to purchase only Tuscan olive oil when it is stored in darker bottles. The reason why consumers should attempt to steer clear of clearer containers is because of the fact that they do not filter sunlight nearly as well as darker-toned bottles. For those who do not know, sunlight is perhaps one of the strongest enemies of oil, as it can drain the nutritional value of the product itself. For the sake of longevity, in regards to oil, darker bottles are supported by companies such as Unaprol.

Another way to verify the quality of your oil is to look at the harvest date. In most cases - and I am sure that most long-time customers will be able to attest to - the average shelf life of a bottle of oil is two years. However, you have to consider the fact that not every bottle of oil is made the same, so expiration dates are going to shift. Make it a point to focus on the harvest date, which should be printed on every bottle, so that you can make the best purchase possible.

Do not rely on the fridge test. For those who do not know, the fridge test is commonly utilized in order to test the authenticity of olive oil. The general rule is that if the oil freezes at a standard refrigerator temperature, it's believed that it is legitimate. However, there have been arguments against this, amongst them being by Dr. Oz himself. This method is not entirely accurate, as any type of oil will solidify when placed in very cold environments. The fridge test is a method best taken with a grain of salt.

As you can see, there are quite a few ways to ensure that your Tuscan olive oil is at the highest level of quality imaginable. It's clear that this will be a desirable point, seeing as how the oil in question will be able to produce some of the strongest benefits for anyone's diet. However, not every bottle of oil is alike, so the idea of quality is likely to vary from one company to the next. As long as you focus on the methods spoken about earlier, there's no doubt that your bottle will be that much more beneficial.
