Slow and Steady

I read a few articles today about the general science of weight loss, and I've come to a few conclusions.

1. I want to slow down my weight loss. I have been losing a little inconsistently and a little too quickly to maintain my natural metabolism. If I want to continue burning calories at the same rate I have to let it happen so slowly that my body doesn't really notice.

2. I will take care not to shock my body with a super low calorie intake (which never really happens anyways) or with too intense of a workout. I want to, again, make changes that are slow and that don't leave my body in panic mode... you know... that mode where it holds on to every burnable molecule for fear of starvation.

3. I will focus on well-being and de-stressing my life as much as possible. Take "root" with my gardening hobby and read some good books, continue learning to speak Spanish, and of course, blog about what I learn on SparkPeople. =)

I want this lifestyle to work for me and I'm not okay with reaching my goal weight just to say I did it. I want my body to be spoiled with raw natural foods and perform at its best for me. I want it to be okay if I go out to eat and get some processed food because it recognizes what is garbage and what it should keep.

I want to do this right because I don't want to do this twice.
