FDA says 44 deaths linked to kratom products; recall initiated

Although the agency says it is unrelated to a current investigation of a multi-state Salmonella outbreak, the FDA is overseeing the recall and destruction of  "a large volume" of kratom products. Death toll nears 200 in listeriosis outbreak in South Africa

South African officials say an outbreak of listeriosis has killed 172 people since the start of 2017. It is the world's largest reported Listeria outbreak.
