Turmeric for indigestion? It might work.

The active ingredient in turmeric was as good as omeprazole in a recent randomized trial.

The golden spice that worked as well as drugs for indigestion
If you're among the millions who live with chronic indigestion, you may have wondered about alternative remedies that skip the potential side effects of prescription drugs. Well, a recent study out of Thailand may have found just that.
The research compared the effectiveness of curcumin and the prescription drug omeprazole, and both combined in 206 people with functional dyspepsia (aka indigestion). The small study, which was the first head-to-head trial of the two remedies, found that taking 250mg capsules of curcumin four times a day for 28 days significantly improved symptoms and was comparable to taking 20mg of omeprazole daily over the same time period.
These findings support a body of evidence that shows curcumin's anti-inflammatory properties can reduce gut discomfort. Traditional Indian medicine has used turmeric for stomach and liver issues for centuries. And many natural indigestion remedies use anti-inflammatory spices like ginger and fennel.
