In a Nutshell
Let's talk about hobbies!
People have strong feelings about the definition of "hobby," but we're not here to gatekeep joy and fun. As far as we're concerned, any activity you enjoy can be a hobby. This could be collecting stamps, playing baseball, singing, or my personal favorite: thrifting.
Below, I profess my love for browsing used goods.

There's no greater joy than walking into a thrift store
what's got us buzzing
There's no greater joy than walking into a thrift store
You never know what treasures you're going to find when thrifting! Will there be a lemon-shaped pitcher in the knickknack aisle to add to my fruit jar collection? Is a hand-blown glass vase waiting to come home with me for the low, low price of $2? Do they have an accent chair that will go perfectly in the corner of my living room?! Only time will tell. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Because I know you're just dying to find out, here are some beloved things I've thrifted, in no particular order:
  • a pair of beaded lamp shades and wood bases for $15
  • paintings, cross-stitch art, and ornate mirrors to hang on my walls
  • a Walter of Wabash walnut kitchen table and set of four chairs for $100
  • Mersman side tables (that go for $500+ online) for FREE
  • colored glass vases of all shapes and sizes for dried (and fresh!) flowers
  • my fruit- and veggie-shaped home decor collection (don't ask me how much I've spent)
  • countless magazines from the '60s, '70s, and '80s for my coffee table
Thrifting is also eco-friendly and (usually) affordable. Before I buy new, I head to the thrift store to see if I can buy something of decent quality for a good price. Reduce, reuse, recycle, friends! It's good for the environment … and it's super fun.
