In a Nutshell
Drinking alcohol at happy hours, parties, concerts, dinner dates, and other social events can seem like an obligation at times. It's easy to feel like the odd one out when you're the only sober person when everyone else has a beer or cocktail in hand. At least that's how it feels for me.
Once I hit my 30s, things changed. My hangovers grew worse, and it became clear to me that alcohol wasn't my friend. I also learned how to avoid caving under peer pressure. So now, I drink mocktails!
Today, I'm sharing a friendly reminder that alcohol-free drinks are delicious, becoming increasingly accessible, and a great way to enjoy a fun drink when you're out or relaxing at home.

Mocktails exist, and they're awesome!
what's got us buzzing
Mocktails exist, and they're awesome!
Nonalcoholic (NA) beverages have been around, but there's been a spike in popularity over the last couple of years. This means there are *way* more options for us folks who prefer to skip the booze. Nowadays, there are zero-proof tequilas, whiskeys, vodkas, wines, cocktail cans, beers, and herby botanical elixirs. You name the drink — its NA alternative probably exists by now.️
Alcohol can negatively affect your health, temporarily and in the long term. Stopping for just 30 days may help repair liver damage, reduce heart disease risk, boost brain power, improve sleep, and a whole bunch of other perks.️️
Personally, swapping cocktails for mocktails has been a game-changer. I no longer have to worry about hangovers, I'm not falling asleep or feeling dizzy as soon as I come home, and I still get to enjoy a yummy drink while I'm out!️️
Want to add more mocktails to your life? Here's what has worked for me over the last few years that may help you, too:️️
  • Sharing your intentions of drinking less alcohol with your loved ones can help them respect your decision (aka avoid peer pressuring you).
  • When you're at restaurants and bars, ask the bartender or waitress if they can turn any of their cocktails into mocktails. Most of the time, they can easily skip the alcohol!
  • Grab a case of NA beer, mixers, or mocktail cans from your local supermarket before your next event. I've found that Target has a really nice selection that keeps on growing.
  • Order NA drinks from Amazon. There are lots of good options out there nowadays.
  • Keep your fridge stocked with your favorites. That's what we do here! My partner loves winding down after work with a cold can of Athletic Brewing Company NA IPA, while I sip a glass of the adaptogen-based drink Recess.
