DAY 1 OF 4 Hello and welcome! Whether you're enrolling in Medicare for the first time, preparing to enroll in the future, or looking to switch plans, you've come to the right place. Throughout this email series, we'll help you find a plan suited for you by sharing key dates, facts, and resources related to the enrollment process. But first, a quick refresher Medicare is health insurance that's available to eligible individuals ages 65 and over, as well as certain individuals with chronic health conditions and disabilities. (Curious about your Medicare eligibility? This tool can help.) Medicare is divided into four parts. Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B (together, these two parts are known as Original Medicare) are administered by the government. Medicare Part C (aka Medicare Advantage plans) and Medicare Part D are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare that can provide additional benefits and services. Many Part C plans and all Part D plans offer prescription drug coverage, which is not covered by Original Medicare. All four parts have their own costs, including deductibles, copays, and premiums. The first step is enrolling in Original Medicare You must be enrolled in Original Medicare — remember, that's Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B — before you can enroll in any of the other parts of Medicare.
