In a Nutshell
Hi! My name is Ari, and I'm a writer and editor at Healthline with a passion for mental well-being, nutrition, and wellness. I do a lot of activities to stay active and support my well-being, like Pilates, yoga, hiking, and taking care of my kitten, Sally, who was named after Meg Ryan's character in "When Harry Met Sally," my all-time favorite movie. But despite all of this, I still feel sluggish in the morning.
I'm usually slow to wake up and don't want the first thing I do to be strenuous. However, I wondered if there was a way to develop a morning routine that boosted my energy and mood levels in a way that felt sustainable and true to my natural preferences.
I recently set out on a mission to make this happen and learned a lot in the process. Read about my experience below.

I switched up my morning routine. This is how it affected my energy levels
Historically, my mornings have started with rolling out of bed after snoozing my alarm clock three times and immediately making a cup of coffee. However, I found that my energy levels plummeted in the afternoon, which is a common experience for many people.
I wanted to find a routine that would keep my energy levels up all day. After doing some research, I found that there are three important steps for starting your day off on the right foot: When it came to achieving these goals, I spent a lot of time thinking about what was actually realistic for me. I knew I didn't want to spend time cooking in the morning, so making eggs with sauteed vegetables was off the list. I also knew getting outside and moving my body first thing in the morning would pose more of a challenge.
I found small ways to tweak my morning routine to prioritize my health and well-being, and that has made more than enough of a difference.
Click below to find out the exact changes I made, plus ways to make realistic adjustments that fit your lifestyle to help you feel your best every morning, too!
